What do you see as the greatest challenge for leaders when it comes to developing a robust recruiting strategy?
Time and Cost. Filling high-level positions takes a lot of time and money. The search is very time-consuming. When in-house recruiters or HR conduct these searches, it takes time away from their daily work and often yields lesser results on the search. Tell us about your role at Smart HR and a bit of your own background.
I have been in the HR/Recruiting world for the last 10+ years. I started in temporary staffing so I have really seen and done it all. Mark brought me into the fold to launch our new recruiting service offering.

What’s the #1 mistake you see companies making in terms of their talent acquisition strategies?
They don’t pay enough attention to their talent acquisition strategy or they don’t have one. Companies often have employees wearing multiple hats and recruiting is often “low man on the totem pole,” so to speak. What usually happens is someone creates a job description, throws it on the web, and keeps their fingers crossed that an “A player” will apply. That approach costs time and money, and is rarely successful.
